As the revitalization of Downtown St.Catharines builds momentum, the City of St.Catharines is adding to the ongoing public and private investments that have transformed the city's core and surrounding areas by performing a series of road and service improvements on St. Paul Street and Queenston Street. With work ranging from streetscaping to municipal service improvements, the projects will help make Downtown St.Catharines better for businesses, residents and visitors, while solidifying its status as one of Ontario's most promising urban centres.
The planned projects for both streets will result in the following improvements:
Streetscaping of St. Paul Street (between James Street and Carlisle Street) and Carlisle Street (between St. Paul Street and Race Street)
-Complete road reconstruction
-New sidewalks and curbs
-Signalized pedestrian crosswalk at St. Paul Street and Garden Park
-New traffic signal at St. Paul Street and Carlisle Street
-Road drainage
-New street lighting
-Streetscaping and landscaping
-Improved safety and access

Queenston Street (between Page Street and Eastchester Avenue) Municipal Services Improvements
-Sanitary and Storm Sewer separation
-Watermain replacement
-Roadway reconstruction (including bike lanes and north side on-street parking)
-Street lighting upgrades
-Traffic signal improvements at Oakdale Avenue and Prince Street
-Streetscaping and Landscaping improvements

While the work will temporarily close down some parts of the Downtown and Queenston Street to vehicle traffic, the businesses and facilities in areas affected by these projects are still open and accessible to visitors.
