Last night, St. Catharines celebrated the achievements of local businesses at the first State of the City event to be held in-person since early 2020. The event, hosted by the Greater Niagara Chamber of Commerce (GNCC) at the FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre (PAC), featured a powerful and uplifting address by Mayor Walter Sendzik.
The Mayor's address touched on themes of hometown pride, leading with a sense of urgency, and rebuilding momentum. His remarks faced challenging topics like the housing crisis, climate change, the opioid epidemic, and our community members experiencing homelessness head-on.
The evening began by highlighting businesses that have seen great success and growth with the Team STC awards handed out by the City of St. Catharines Economic Development & Tourism department. The businesses inducted into the Team STC Hall of Fame this year brought jobs to the city and embraced St. Catharines in unprecedented times.
